LAST WILLS & TESTAMENTS

Last Wills and Testaments

A Last Will and Testament is a legal document that declares how an estate or property will be managed after the writer’s death. Although it is not the most pleasant subject to approach, it is essential for people 18 and over to draft a Will to ensure that their assets are handled in a satisfying way.

Living Will

A living will is a legal document that a person uses to make known his or her wishes regarding life-prolonging medical treatments. It can also be referred to as an advance directive, health care directive, or a physician’s directive.

Health Care Proxy

A Health Care Proxy is an advance medical directive in the form of a legal document that designates another person (a proxy) to make health care decisions in case a person is rendered incapable of making his or her wishes known.  It can be either permanent or made temporary.

Power of Attorney

A Power of Attorney is a written document in which one person (the principal) appoints another person to act as an agent on his or her behalf, thus conferring authority on the agent to perform certain acts or functions on behalf of the principal.  A Power of Attorney may be durable as well.
